BLAST

                      I heard a blast
                      I was shaken
                      It couldn't be
                      At least not again
                      I heard screams
                      I saw the flames
                      I was mortified
                      They were at it again

                      O humans
How cruel could our souls be
How blind could our minds be
How cold could our hearts be
We shut our eyes to the horror
                      Our ears to the agony

I prayed that it would stop
                     Couldn't close my eyes
                     I wrenched my nose
To the smell of burning flesh
                     It has got to stop
                     Why wouldn't it stop

                     Finally, I close my eyes
                     I open them again
                     I was day dreaming
It certainly could have been me
                     No it couldn't, they said
You are safe here, they said
                     Until
                     I heard a blast

Hi everyone, this is my first poem and first post here. This poem was inspired and is dedicated to all those who have been injured or have lost their lives in Nigeria, by bomb blasts.
